Dolores Heights Green Garden Days 2016

img_0159

We have enjoyed great success in the past year on our six adopted stairways and green areas in Dolores Heights. The first Saturday of each month volunteers meet between 9-11 am to improve and plant our neighborhood public stairways and adjacent green areas. The Green Garden Days are sponsored by the Dolores Heights Improvement Club, 20th Street Neighborhood Watch, Spike’s Coffee,  SF Parks Alliance, and the SF Department of Public Works.

This map shows all the stairways of Dolores Heights. We have adopted six of them, numbers 1-5 and 7.

85+ volunteers have contributed over 400 hours planting, cleaning, and improving our stairways and green spaces. 370 compost bags and 39 trash have been filled and collected. (Scroll down to see a Green Gardens gallery!)

The group also worked in partnership with the City to dramatically improve safety lighting on the Cumberland/Sanchez stairs and the Cumberland/Noe Stairs.
