Greetings from the DHIC Board

John O’Diunn, Chair of the DHIC Board

It’s now springtime in Dolores Heights. Want to know what Dolores¬†Heights Improvement Club (DHIC) leaders and members are doing to foster community? In this newsletter you will learn how the Green Gardens group keep our stairway green spaces clean and beautiful, and how Block Safety¬†Groups keep our streets safe and clean despite the return of massive crowds at Dolores Park. Our Planning & Land Use Committee explains how they help neighbors negotiate friendly agreements for more balanced
renovations while also deterring developers creating “monster big-box” speculative-build-to-flip buildings in Dolores Heights, over the objections of neighbors. All of which reduces the volume of cases that City Hall has to deal with and helps humans get along together.

We need you to continue our work. If you are not already a member, click
HERE to join DHIC. If you are a member, thank you – and please remember
to renew your annual membership. Numbers count when we ask our
supervisor for help on neighborhood issues, when we engage with City
officials (Police, DPW, Planning, etc.) to achieve our goals.

Lastly, we’re having a Spring Gathering at 10:30 am on Saturday June 3
to meet Supervisor Sheehy and hear about our plans & work. Come have
coffee and snacks while chatting with neighbors. It all started with you
and with DHIC, your neighborhood association.

I look forward to seeing you at our Spring Gathering on June 3 and/or
around the neighborhood.

John O’Duinn
Chair, DHIC Board
