Have you heard? The greater Mission Dolores area has the opportunity to form a Green Benefit District. It will provide enhanced services (above and beyond the City’s existing services) funded via an overlap tax.
Why a GBD? Issues around safety & cleanliness came to a head last year in the Mission Dolores neighborhood. Following a series of public meetings, an exploratory group focused on finding a more sustainable way to address quality of life issues and support the whole community. Districts like this exist in business and commercial areas (like the Castro Community Business District), and Dogpatch/Potrero Hill recently adopted a GBD.
The exploratory group conducted a survey last fall among all community property owners and residents. The results are in! Come to a meeting in early February to hear about it and give us your feedback.
- Saturday, February 2 – 10:45 am at Noe & 20th Streets (at the end of our Green Garden clean-up. Check here or on the DHIC Facebook Page for news of cancellation due to rain.)
- Monday, February 4 – 7 pm at a 21st Street home (to RSVP and obtain address info, please email firstname.lastname@example.org)
