Pride month update –
On Saturday June 24 the Dyke March assembles at 18th & Dolores for 5pm kick-off. Community leaders are asking SF officials to ensure sufficient porta-potties at the Park.

Mission Station SFPD – monthly community meeting at 5pm on Tuesday, June 27 at Mission Police Station, 630 Valencia Street (at 17th Street.) Captain Tom Harvey hosts the monthly community meeting at 5pm on the last Tuesday of the month at the Mission Police Station. For more info, check the SFPD calendar
Clean-ups in addition to DHIC’s monthly Green Gardens –
Clean Up The City is spearheaded by Vincent Yuen and Manny Yekutiel as part of the Civic Joy Fund (SF Chronicle, SF Examiner, SF Standard). Devon Proctor (devon.proctor@gmail.com), a DH neighbor, organizes a weekly cleanup on Saturdays at 10am. Hosted by Sisters Coffee Shop (20th and Valencia), you show up, spend an hour cleaning up the streets in the neighborhood, and then come back and enjoy a free brunch (along with some benefits from other local businesses.)
On a sunny Saturday, over 60 neighbors met to discuss safety. After a brief intro, folks organized by their block safety groups and talked about their specific safety concerns and suggestions. Following these 30-minute small group discussions, they reconvened to hear the key takeaways.

On March 21, the Board of Supervisors reviewed “A Place for All” Implementation Plan prepared by the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing with a price tag of $1.4 billion. The supervisors grilled the HSH representatives on the exorbitant cost of their proposed plan. And other speakers pointed out that RescueSF, a grassroots resident and small business group, proposed an alternative that cost $1 billion less than the HSH plan.
Legislation adopted last year created a City Shelter Policy. San Francisco has nearly 4400 persons living unsheltered on our streets. The deaths, addiction, and other serious health conditions among them continue to grow. The costs of street sleeping (in human lives and needed services) overwhelm our City’s capacity. When will our City elected officials fund & provision enough shelter – as required by law? For more information and to make your voice heard, visit RescueSF – Advocacy.
The ballots are counted and the results are in. DHIC’s four director seats will be filled by Jennifer Bury, John O’Duinn, Hans Kolbe, and Liz Clark. (Read their bios below.) Congratulations to them and a big thank you for serving on the DHIC board.

I’ve been living in Dolores Heights since 2002. I love how
the community works together on the many various green common
spaces, walkways and stairs in the area. I’ve helped in various roles over
the years… carrying trash bags, setting up online payments, helping negotiate between neighbors if issues arise… doing whatever helps this community and neighborhood be so wonderful.
Hans Kolbe – Standing for Re-Election
I am a passionate member of our neighborhood and its organization, the DHIC. My wife, my two daughters, and I have lived here since 1992 and saw our children grow up and us getting older. From the start I have worked with our neighbors to protect and improve our streets. The DHIC is a critical element of what makes our neighborhood great, strong community connections, looking out for each other, and working together to defend and improve. Where we live, our home, is a foundational element of our lives. We cannot build this foundation by ourselves. Everybody needs to do their part, so please take some of your precious time and energy to work with us. Please join and stay active in DHIC.
Liz Clark – Standing for Re-election
I have loved San Francisco from childhood, long before moving to the City in 1982 and making my home in Dolores Heights since 1990. The past few years have brought me great concern about the conditions of our neighborhood streets and staircases and so now I am Co-Chair of the DHIC’s Green Garden Group; a monthly (pre-COVID) clean-up of one of the seven staircases in our area. My involvement with the DHIC has been important as it allows me to have a voice in the direction of our neighborhood and to fight for its needs.
With a new focus and a new date, join us for DHIC’s “Safer Together” Gathering on Saturday, June 3 at 11 am. Please save this date!
This year, our focus is on Safety: what we can do to help ourselves and our neighbors feel safer. We’ll introduce our block groups and hold breakouts by group – so that you can meet your neighbors, talk with each other about your key safety concerns, and share tips on how to make our homes and blocks safer. We will also have safety handouts.
